Ala Nera

This Nero hails from Trapani in the westernmost province in Sicily. Aptly named for the black-winged birds that fly over the vineyard, this wine is full bodied and packed with layers of fruit and spice. No oak aging as to keep the weight in check and highlight the natural balance of the fruit. Sustainably grown, aged in bottle 18 months prior to release.

Wife and husband team Marita and Guglielmo Manenti personally tend to the 4 hectares of vineyards they purchased in 2005. Located in the historical district of Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa, the vineyards are planted in the traditional bush vine system, with 6000 vines per hectares.
Only in the last 20 years there has been a steady return to vine growing and Manenti belongs to the new generation of winemakers.

Il Colle

One of the "small jewels in Montalcino's original growing area," Il Colle was once a part of Conti Costanti's Colle al Matrichese, a property that sits at a high altitude of 400-450 meters. Yielding delicate wines, the fruit of these vineyards came to be blended with grapes from a more southern vineyard--Castelnuovo dell'Abate at 220 meters--that the family had purchased in 1998.
Il Colle utilizes natural yeasts, no temperature control, long maceration on skins, and no filtering.

La Palazzetta

Cultivating his vineyards organically, Flavio Fanti is a traditionalist who somewhat straddles the fence. While only utilizing large Slovenian and French oak for his Brunello, he chooses to use various size barrique for his rosso in order to create a wine that is characteristic of Sangiovese Grosso, but incredibly approachable upon release.
Beginning with fruit that is ripe and mature Flavio makes Brunello wines that are big in structure, powerful and pure.

Milziade Antano

Under the shadow of the Tuscan hills hides a beautiful, still under-recognized region known as Umbria. Growing up on his father's small Fattoria, or farm, called Colleallodole, with approximately thirty hectares with about seven under vine, Francesco Antano learned his trade.
Stylistically, Antano is "old school" in winemaking terms, a "garage winemaker", with a lack of intervention in the winery, including no barrique and no high-tech equipment.
